Ghostbuster's Ecto 1 modification

I've seen the kit out there......lately,  all I can find is a snap together kit.   I have an Ecto - 1A kit,  that I got for Christmas last year.   This year,  I got another one......given to me by the same person who got it for me last year.......my son.   He kinda felt bad that he had goofed,  but I reassured him that he did alright.   You see,  in the instructions,  it illustrates how the kit can be altered into the Ecto - 1.
I was looking at the boxes,  and I noticed a couple of odd things.  There are subtle differences with the packaging.

Looking at the bar code.......these two kits are a year apart.

Inside......the kits though,  they are the same.  Nothing surprising......I had no doubts.

The lower kit is the older kit.   In the modification,  there are going to be some parts that will not be used.   They are minimal......basically,  the sign along the sides of the rack are omitted.   As for any physical modifications,  just the brackets for these signs need to be removed.

I'll use the older kit for the mod,  seeing as it is out of the bag.  Note the location tabs along the roof......these need to be removed.

The passenger side is done at this point.   I started on the driver's side.......they are cut off with an x-actor knife.  Once they were removed,  they were rough sanded,  and then sanded with 2000 grit sandpaper.   I have some finer grit.....I will do it when I begin to assemble the models.

I also scribed both top door lines,  so they would be more pronounce.  Sanding did take some of it away.   The rest of the mod lies with the decals.   The mod is very easy to do.......the only thing to be careful of,  is not dinging the roof when you remove the locator tabs.   I can't wait now to get them on the table.
